Avocados, Immune Boosting Foods, nutritious foods

Why Are Avocados Such A Healthy Part Of Your Diet?

Avocados are one of those foods that come up quite often when people are talking about a healthy diet. If you look up foods that contain healthy fats, they make the list. If you look up natural foods for skin care, they make the list. The same thing goes for if you start adding super foods to your diet. Plus, who doesn’t like a guacamole dip? Avocados are certainly delicious, and what makes them so healthy?

Did you know first of all that avocados are fruits? Many people don’t realize that, and they think that they are vegetables. You might think they taste more like a vegetable, but they are indeed fruits. Not only that, but they are unique fruits. Avocados are rich in healthy fats as mentioned, and that is in contrast to being loaded with natural sugars or carbs like most fruits. That certainly makes them unique, don’t you think?

Those healthy fats are really important. Let’s first identify that one avocado is well under 200 calories. Additionally, if you are wondering why they are so healthy, you get tons of vitamins and nutrients, including potassium, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B5 and much more, 20 vitamins and nutrients in all. You know those important ingredients are going to provide you with a ton of health benefits.

You might have heard that another fruit contains quite a bit of potassium. In fact, it is one of the main reasons people are told to eat that fruit, although it is very healthy and has other positive benefits. The fruit is a banana, but you might be surprised to find out that avocados are higher in potassium than those bananas. Another thing you can count on with avocados is their fiber content.

The fiber in a diet is important because it keeps your digestive system moving along, among other things. Many people go to grains when they are looking for fiber, but there are healthy food sources like avocados that have plenty of fiber, too. That’s not to say that you don’t need your grains for a healthy and balanced diet, though.

Now, are you ready for a health benefit of avocados that extends to other parts of your diet? It is all about those healthy fats once again. What else do they do for you? They promote heart health, which is great, but the unique health benefit that was to be mentioned is all about your body better absorbing nutrients from other foods. That is what the healthy fats from avocados can help do for you.

Avocados are great for guacamole, but you can do so much more with them as well when it comes to food recipes. You just have to start adding them to your grocery list so that you can enjoy them more often. That sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? I can tell you I love avocados, but I don’t eat them enough. Let’s say we start doing that because they just have too many health benefits to pass up.
